Surgical corsets are available for spinal injuries but this page does not cover these.
Corsets in respect of ladies underwear however are made to pull in the waist but at the same time lift the breast.
Originally corsets were undergarments however some modern corsets can be used over outer garments. You can get corsets that fit under the bust or over the bust.
